Run to End Poverty (R2EP- https://r2ep.ewb.ca/) is a Canada wide event that aims to bring people together with a common goal: to eliminate extreme poverty in rural Africa. Through the physical activity of running, people’s passion for development are united and communities come together to celebrate, support each other and build a common understanding around the challenges and hopes of building a world without poverty. Funds raised from events across the country support the work of Engineers Without Borders Canada (http://www.ewb.ca/).
EWB is a social change incubator for people, ventures and ideas. We spark and accelerate systemic innovations in Canada and Africa that have the potential to radically disrupt the systems that allow poverty to persist.
The messaging of the run is centred around a belief in the possibility of a world without poverty. This belief is a commonality. We can all believe in a better world and that a better world is something worth celebrating, being loud about and excited for. This is why we celebrate the Run to End Poverty and cheer on race day. It’s about looking forward, and making a connection with our belief in a world without extreme poverty - full of opportunity, potential, equality and love.
The design of the t-shirts for R2EP should reflect some of these ideas and emotions. To be consistent with organizational branding, designs should be clean, modern and leaning towards minimalism. Consideration for front and back of the shirt is welcome.
