Please refer to the style guide in the attachment for detailed information including a t-shirt wireframe, images and some instructions.
In general, here is the background on why the t-shirt is being designed. Last December, there was a major group of fires in Southern California. This t-shirt is going to be used to raise money for the Los Angeles Fire Department. They did an amazing job saving hundreds of homes from burning down.
So for Valentine’s Day, we’re gonna sell the t-shirts and raise money for stuff like gym equipment, outdoor barbecues and recliner seats for fire stations that are in less affluent zip codes.
In the style guide, there's an image of a t-shirt. It’s a black t-shirt with a white pencil drawing. Use this t-shirt as a guide for color palette, tone and energy. It was made by placing a sheet of tracing paper over a few images then drawing them in pencil then computer scanning them and arranging into a composition.
For this project, there are different approaches you can use to design it but ultimately the idea is to turn a few images into a pencil drawing that illustrates an epic fire battle to save a house and a neighborhood in the hills of Los Angeles.
In terms of the overall size or area of the drawing, please use the same dimensions as the drawing on the black t-shirt in the style guide attachment.
And now, here are some closing comments. While the forms and composition are defined in a general way, there is much room for you to be creative in how the forms get expressed; how the movement flows between forms; how to judge the level of detail (particularity vs. essence) throughout.
Really excited to see your work and to have you be a part of the team to help out the LA firefighters.
