We have just decided on a logo through 99designs and we wish to take the next step and have a website designed. We have a wordpress team ready to take the design and implement the website. We wish to have a homepage design plus a subpage design that we will reuse for each of the interior pages of the site.
We wish to have designers decide whether we should have a 1-column or 2 column wordpress layout, with either a large header or small header. We are very much seeking a diversity of designs because we don't have a pre-existing preference for layout. However, the new logo we have had created should work within the color scheme for the new website.
The homepage will have links to the interior pages mentioned below, plus one additional link for online ordering. The online ordering link will point to an external website provided by a different company that handles online orders, so there will be no interior page dedicated to online ordering.
The homepage should include space for a gallery/images widget that we will include.
Also on the homepage will be a facebook link, hours of operation, and form to join our mailing list (the form will be provided by a separate company, icontact). The form will include just 2 fields, one for the first name and one for the email address, and a submit button that should be a custom button, not just the regular html submit button as shown in the site presently. Ideally we would like to have the text fields be custom as well, not just the standard html text form field. We can take care of the programming of the field looks, just need to get colors.
We will have an incentivized facebook 'like' system where when someone likes us on our facebook page, we give them a coupon from within facebook, so there should be room on the homepage near the facebook logo to have a message that says 'like us on facebook for a free dessert' or some other free item. For an example of this scenario, see the text near the facebook icon on the homepage of http://www.souk-dc.net
The homepage should serve as encouragement for people to book a reservation online, or place an order online for delivery, or call the restaurant. The reserve online will be via a subpage. Therefore its fine to have special buttons or any other attraction to make it easy to see in an instant where to click to book a reservation online, or order food for delivery.
Also the homepage should have these subpages as clickable links in the header or any other navigation area, regardless of whether there is a special button to call attention to reserving online. We find that on the current website, there is significant clicks both on the header link to reserve online as well as the maroon reserve star icon halfway down the page.
The interior subpages will also need the facebook link but will not need the text near that link that says 'like us on facebook for a free dessert'. That text will only be on the homepage even though teh facebook icon/link will be in all subpages, as part of the common header.
Also the email signup form fields should be on each subpage as well as the homepage.
Interior pages are expected to be the following:
1) Gallery of pictures of food and the interior of the restaurant (we will have a professional photographer take the pictures)
2) A private dining page which is to advertise our private party room and provide links to our special group menus
3) A menu page, with links to bring up an overlay (lightbox maybe) of the menus we offer: Lunch, Dinner, and Sunday Brunch.
4) A contact us page
5) A reserve-online page which will have a widget placed inside the page from OpenTable, which is a separate company that provides a javascript widget to put into the restaurant's webpage (we will do this programming for including the widget). See pics attached to this design brief for a screenshot of the reservation widget options.
6) A Location page showing a map of the location (which will be a google maps widget we will include) and our address
7) A 'Specials' page --- we occasionally have special menus for New Year's Eve, Thanksgiving, Christmas, etc. and will therefore need a link on the homepage for specials.
8) A brunch page -- this is to show photographs and description of our Sunday buffet brunch offering
9) A birthdays page promoting our special birthday offerings
Feel free to use any icons, buttons, illustrations, or stock photos from dreamstime, istockphoto, or other low cost sites. We just need to know the specific file name of the item that we should purchase to be used in the site.
In general, we need a new website to attract people to the restaurant because the previous web designer made some mistakes that are not showing the elegance and atmosphere as nicely as it could be.
-- We just purchased a logo via 99designs, which is attached as a PDF along with the specs indicating colors and font.
-- Demographics: People of all backgrounds are our customers, as tourists, residents, and people working in Washington DC. Age of most customers is 22 to 75. We have a lot of wedding parties, birthdays, and business events at the restaurant.
