Please note, I have also uploaded this as a text document also.
PPL Motor Homes website needs a new look for our website.
PPL Motor Homes is a major online retailer of RV parts and accessories and the largest RV Consignment dealer in the world.
Please note: We are currently only focusing on the RV Parts Superstore section of our website. Later we will be renovating the entire site, so that may be something to keep in mind as you work on this design.
We are going to overhaul everything, from the top of the header to the footer.
PLEASE NOTE: We will not be changing our logo.
We need designs on 3 classes of pages for now, a Section page, a Category page and a Product View page. We are interested in color and font choice as well as layout placement of our various logos etc.
We are 'reasonably committed' to having a menu bar across the top and down the left side, but we are definitely open to other suggestions. We do want to follow best practices where feasible for layout design and usability including page layout width etc.
The common workflow for our users is that they either land on a specific product page or section/category (from a search link etc) or they will navigate via our menu system and drill down through the site hierarchy by a combination of using our menu systems and/or selecting various search criteria or internal links from our left side vertical nav column that appears on our section/category pages. The left vertical nav does not appear on our product page.
NOTE: On our wireframe/screen shot images that we are sending you, we have placed some of our required items such as the product image and the tab control on the page in purely arbitrary position so that you could see what kind of widgets we think we need.
All design colors should be compatible with and reflect our company colors and our company logo (which we are including in our image file.) We also need to incorporate our tag line ‘RV Parts Superstore’ into the design. (probably near our logo?)
NOTE ON MENUS:
The screen shots that we’ve sent currently include a two row menu system. We are pretty sure that we will need to use 2 rows due to the extensive size of our menu.
If you have an idea as to how our menu layout should look or operate, please feel free to indicate that in your design and or contact us for an exchange of information. We would also like to have a design example of drop down & hover colors for our menus.
WIDGETS and BUTTONS artwork
While some widgets such as ‘stars for reviews’, ‘Sale Price’ and others may not be present on our ‘wire frame’ screen shots, we would still like to have them on your design page. We would like to see one each of the following icons on products on the category page design so that we see what each example looks like.
Each product should have a Regular Price, Sale Price, Reviews, and Add to cart images.
To say that another way, we would like to have a complete set of icons/images created for the page at the same time as your design so that we will have a matching set of everything we will want to use on the page.
Sales Promotion Banner:
We would like a sales promotion banner space on each of the pages on our design. You can use our special 7.99 shipping banner that is currently on our site for reference.
SECTION AND CATEGORY PAGES:
Section/category pages have a header/navigation area and a left vertical nav/filter column and a content area that could be divided vertically or horizontally as needed for presentation of our information. Please provide both a vertical and a horizontal layout example for our content area.
The two page types differ primarily in what is viewable in the main content area and in the left nav/filter column.
Sections are the major 'sections' of our website such as 'Towing, Air Conditioning and Heating, Plumbing' etc. (We envision this being a drop down menu under the ‘All Categories’)
Categories are break downs of things in each section such as 'Towing/tow bars or Plumbing/toilets' etc. (Please use the ‘Towing’ section as focus of all your examples). The category breakdown for the Towing section is:
- Tow Bars
- Tow Dollies
- Braking Systems
- Safety Cables
- Combo Kits
IMPORTANT: Each section and category page will include a text area that will describe the website section being viewed and a links table to items inside that section.
For a Category Page (and possibly a Section page), the content will include either a 'list view' (as pictured in our sample page) or a 'grid view' of all products in the current category. We plan to allow the user to select via a small button on the page whether they wish to view the page in 'grid or list view'.
A Category and a Section page will always contain a left nav/filter column that allows the user to select filtering criteria for the contents being viewed. For example our 'towing/brackets' category would allow a user to select the make and model of the vehicle being fitted with the part (bracket) as well as the brand of bracket they choose to use that fits the target vehicle.
PRODUCT VIEW PAGES :
The 'Product View' page is shown whenever a user navigates to an individual product and so is the ‘final’ page in our workflow.
This page should contain the following:
- text for product description
- product feature list
- add to cart button
- product price
- view cart button
- a product image
- product brand logo
- tab control to hold related products, feature lists, etc.
- area for product review and rating by users (with stars)
- Social icons for links to Facebook etc.
- Each product should have a Regular Price, Sale Price, Reviews, and Add to cart logos.
NOTES ON TABS FOR THIS PAGE :
We expect to have between 3 to 5 tabs in any given product dependant on what information is available for that product. It is important that the tabs can size correctly regardless of the number of tabs.
Possible tabs include :
Other notes on Product View Page:
This page might also contain one of the following icons :
Please present one of these in your page design.
