We are a wholesale insurance agency that targets retail agents who sell insurance to their customers. Our users have many clients with different needs, so they want access to many different types of insurance products in one place. We offer instant quotes (this is the above the fold section) and we also offer access to partner products (the section below the fold). Our audience tends to be older mom and pop establishments, so our audience is less tech saavy and usually in their 40s. This website is a hybrid of marketing (home page) and application (list page where users actually do work). Users will already be signed in by the time they see the home page because they land here from our primary website (we don't want to copy the style from our primary website, just the colors, listed below in the Visual style section). The list page is essentially a list (duh), where users can filter and take some actions.
Insurance is an old and stodgy industry, so we'd like to be set apart by a fun design with a personality. We want to show our users that we care, that we have a tempered sense of humor, and that we are doing something the industry has never done before. Think about the type of conversational design and communication seen in http://www.progressive.com and https://www.turbotax.com. Turbo Tax uses big bright buttons that highlight clear choices, which we like. Feel free to use images or illustrations and icons. We'd rather have more unique fonts than FontAwesome, as long as we can buy or find them if they are from a third party. Don't feel obliged to use image either, as we love the look and feel of https://lemonade.com/ for example. Feel free to be bold with the colors and icons, but not over-cluttered because we need the users to be able to find what they are looking for. Because this is a marketing/application website, we should use a base palette that allows buttons (and icons that are used as buttons) to pop. Our color palette is: Dark Green #004833, Orange #FFA100, Light Green #009A6B, Lime Green #AFBC22, and Blue #149DCC, with green and orange used more and blue less. More colors can be used as needed for icons. Use your own discretion for adding icon colors. I need to be able to make a style guide from these designs, so think consistency in color choices for links, buttons, navigation, etc. If you feel up to changing the copy on the home page to fit the style, go ahead! We can always edit that later. I'd like the winning design delivered in Web preview files (PNG or JPEG) and as editable Photoshop, Illustrator, or Axure files.
Homepage: Above the fold we'd like to see a user bar with the buttons: "Notifications" "Account" and "Log out." A logo bar with the primary navigation: "Home" "Work in progress" "Quotes" "Binders" "Policies" "Clients" "Our products." We want a big featured image or illustration with a call to action button that directs users to "Get Instant Quote." We'd like to show logos from our partners. Below the fold: We have other partner products from other websites that we'd like to show as the next scroll down section. We have some filters, and the cards can be illustrations, images, lists, anything that looks attractive and helps users compare products.
List page: this is more of an application type page, where users will see a list of their clients and what line of business they are working with. From top to bottom: we'd like to see the user bar and logo bar with primary navigation continued from the home page. We'd like to see a bar with the page title and buttons that represent actions the user can take on the page. In the example there is an "Archive" button in this row. Below that we'd like to see a filter bar that filters by each of the items on the list row. List row: on each row, we'd like to see "Line of coverage" "Date" "Type" "Client Name" "Premium." There is also pagination at the bottom of the page.
As long as you stick with neutrals, (beige, grays, whites) and the guidelines listed under Visual style we are good!
