Feel free to throw-away the entire existing color/layout but please do
incorporate the new logo and it's color.
The current front page picture in the background is taken from older
computers in the 70s and I wanted it to reflect that the product has
it's roots in "old-school" "well made" engineering. While we want to
be "next generation" and "future" we also want to reflect that the
software quality is really top notch.
Since this is two pages and we'd like to feature the actual product
(the logged in errors page) on the front page I'd suggest figuring
that out first.
The front page needs to feature the product so the user knows what
they are signing up for. It needs to be ultra clear to the user what
they are getting so if you have questions please ask me. This is the
main reason why we are doing this contest - to clearly communicate
what the product is.
The front page needs a very strong clear call to action - sign up.
I can't stress how important this is - you should hit the front page
and if you are in the need for this particular product we want the
user to immediately click on sign up - make it as easy and intuitive
as possible please.
The main audience is going to be highly technical but we also want
non-technical people to understand what it is the product does.
Please keep in mind that a user can be logged in or out on the front
page. You don't need to design both - but just keep in mind when
creating links that we'll want to do that in the future.
The errors page is the first page you see when you login. I created a
fake account for you all to check out with fake data in it.
Feel free to re-arrange the layout of the errors page but all the
existing functionality needs to be there (time resolution tabs, graph,
tabs for errors vs go-routines, etc.)

This gives you an idea of what the errors page looks like. There are
various tabs for other things at the top. Then there is a graph. You
can adjust the time resolution underneath. Finally - there is a table
of errors that are generated that the user can click into it. At the
top of course you have various links to other pages.
A quick explanation on the product:
Other software developers write apps and when their apps cause errors
they send us the error so we can track it for them. This allows them
to make their application better. We track other things besides errors
but that's the main thing right now. We enable the software engineer
to really understand how their application is behaving.
Feel free to get very creative here. The basic elements need to stay
but you can re-arrange however you see fit.
Also - feel free to re-color the graph as well - it's easy enough for
us to adjust the colors when we convert from psd to markup.
In response to questions about 'sections' on the front page =>
* section that shows what we do - this would ideally have a picture or
something of the backend
* section that maybe goes into more detail on how we work - having
some sort of diagram or graphic here would be awesome - if you've seen
the movie tron - we like that style of stuff
honestly that's prob. all we want/need for right now - don't include
sections just to 'fill' up the page - short, concise - this is what we
do - sign up - that's what we are looking for
also - we are *not* a agency/consultantcy - so no designs that look
anything like that
