We sell vintage clothing and accessories to Pinup Enthusiasts across Australia (and internationally when asked).
Our Target audience is female and ages between 20 and 60 years old, she is interested in vintage, rockabilly and old fashioned decorum and service.
The idea of our shop is to be like an old fashioned Department Store with a personal shop assistant. If you click on the 'tell us your details' link on the left of the page given below you can see the site asks for size information so that it can show only products designed to fit.
I have given the shop page from the existing site as i feel this is the best one to use for the competition as it contains the elements we are most interested in evolving. you can use this page as a wireframe for the design you submit.
In the header we still need to see the logo large, the shopping cart and wishlist feeds, the free postage and a photo of our leading lady 'velvet rose'.
See attached photos for options of what to use for the photo of her. I have attached some very bad sketches of what I am thinking we can do here - these are low res images but I can get higher resolution if you need it for your design, just ask.
The logo is not negotiable but you can do whatever you feel is most appropriate for the other sections . For instance the photo doesn't need to be in a frame, you can cut backgrounds out or whatever.
We still need all elements shown on this page, but want them to look a whole lot better.
Please note there are 3 features we specifically should point out, in these we feel the concept was good but it turned out very ugly and we want another take on it. (when looking on a desktop) the category links on the left hand side with the red background were meant to be on a set of vintage drawers, and if the drawer is open then the products are showing on the right. If the drawer is closed the products related to that category are hidden. (click on a drawer to see what I mean). The font is bad, as is the display of drawers. The challenge is to create some sort of vintage themed idea that shows what is currently displayed and what is not (it could be a radio with dials, it could be far more simple and just cool looking checkboxes) but we want it to be enticing to use, and possible to code/animate, and intiutive to the end user.
The second of the ideas we would like to revisit are the curtains. When you click on some drawers the display is updated, the curtains close and open with a new display - symbolic of the dressing room changeover, or getting something new to try. This could be cupboards, or different curtains or just something that looks good with the rest of the layout.
I feel what has happened here is that we had a lot of ideas, they were all combined and without a proper designer they have no continuity.
The third is the 'please tell us your details' popout -which is super ugly and needs review. We want text included at the top to say: "Hi There, my site is different and to tailor it to you and so we can select items suitable for you, please enter your details below, Velvet Rose" or something to that effect and for it to look a lot less like default bootstrap wells which is obvious is what is happening at the moment. You don't need to submit this idea or the curtains closing effect until shortlisted.
please keep in mind that we will build in bootstrap so layouts using the 12 part grid are great. also think of mobile responsiveness and whether your design could be adapted.
also consider page load, we like images but don't want something so intensive that the user never sees it.
