[Note** Full pages work best. And this is a 2-page contest so please submit 2 pages. Thanks!]
The following websites somewhat capture the general essence of what we're looking for:
zillow.com is a distant fourth (their maps are too big. We think they should be minimized and on the side with the option to maximize)
Preferably, we want visitors to jump right into viewing homes for sale (seeing a results page for a pre-determined location) and easily see that they can search for homes.
For each result we want to give more information than our peers give. Thumbnails, price, address (if any), home type, lot size, age of home, with a thumbnail of the owner or agent.
We would like to also add icons with each result in the listings that shows what is available for it. For example, if the listing has a video then we can show the video icon. If the listing has an image of the title deed, then show an icon for that.*.
3 tabs or boxes showing the 3 views for the results: gallery (default), list, map
*This is for an Asian market, so some things like this will be important.
-3 obvious tabs at top: "Search for Property", "Sell your house, land, or condo for FREE", and "Earn Commissions" illustrating the 3 general things you can do with the site. The target for this website are not internet-savvy like many viistors in the US (thus the need for obviousness)
-also somewhere on the page, and each page, should be an image that shows visitors that they can call our customer service line at anytime, 24/7 (showing a headshot of a call center rep) with sample phone number - preferably close to the top
The property detail page is the place where people can see most of the detail about the property. It should include more than one photo for the property (with link to more photos, if any), property metadata, video thumbnail (if any), and under the price of the house the value converted into different currencies (in a smaller font size)
There should also be a section for information on who is selling the property (owner, broker, agent) as well as a form to contact them or do a live chat. This section should be very obvious on the page (perhaps in a different color like a light yellow or something).
-We do not currently have a logo in mind. This will come later.
-GUI should be bright and mature-looking. The colors on the main page of estately.com look nice. Feel free to experiment.
-Design should not use small fonts. Fonts should be easy to read, large enough for someone with average vision to read clearly.
-Page should maximize use of space, yet not appear too crowded.
Notes added May 3:
Some additional notes: For default we can jump right into listings. Site will have no ads. For "Search", only showing listings. Focus should be on regular listings, but featured and new listings should still be on the page (or highlighted somehow, rather than in a different section)
Also, we don't do rentals.
