We like the following sites and features, but are open to new ideas for presenting our application and website. We are primarily looking for a clean, updated, site that allows our customers to understand our product, sign-up, find a coach (if needed), easily navigate the site, and manage their video content.
http://www.linkedin.com/ - I like the simple design, layout and elements. It seems to have most of the key features we would want on the first page. I really like the "scrolling photo-member testimonial" format they use to introduce the benefits of the site. I think this could be very effective for us with the right players and coaches. Maybe we could show both the coach and the athlete in side-by-side photos on our site. Also, I like the member (and our athlete/coach) search/directory option at the bottom of the page.
http://www.apple.com/ Apple - site looks really beautiful with their graphics that pop off the page. Our revenues will be generated by mobile devices, so featuring them on the site in an attractive way would make sense. High quality graphics and a "clean" layout seem important for a visual (video based) company. If it is not cost prohibitive, we would like to have a visually attractive site.
https://www.tumblr.com/ Tumblr - I like both the scrolling info, and the drop down: "30 reasons you'll love Tumblr" on the Homepage. The auto scroll might work for both testimonial and info content. I like the drop down option for us to keep the Homepage simple and clean, but still give lots of info about the who, what, & how, etc. of CMV.
http://flipboard.com/ - Really cool. I like the way they combine nice graphics, a simple visual video of what they offer, and clean design. "Free download" button link for app (note - avail for ipad). Lots of good stuff here.
https://path.com/ - Also use video to show what they do. Great graphics, simple, clear design. We may need more elements to explain enhanced web features though. Tumblr-like drop down for our "How it works" section?
http://www.inkling.com/ - I like the background scroll with hot buttons on either side. Innovative presentation for info. Ipad in front simultaneously displays info. Nice touch. Ipad friendly look and feel.
http://www.waze.com/ - Another good option for us may be imbedded videos that explain how to use our product and how it works. Waze does it this way, but I think our videos have higher potential for "wow" factor with exciting sport clips.
http://www.kpcb.com/ - KP uses the whole screen for their scrolling feature and incorporate it as a background. Another interesting approach.
