Knox County Public Library
KCPL is the library system of Knox County, Tennessee.
(Please see the attached design requirements for the full information)
Kent District Library (http://www.kdl.org)
We like well-spaced, nicely-divided left-hand secondary navigation, like Kent District’s (http://www.kdl.org/about).
Drupal.org (http://www.drupal.org)
We like the strata of color here with the lack of obvious side-edge boundaries. The use of these colors creates distinct horizontal areas between the header, footer and main body sections. This can also be seen at Fedora - http://www.fedoraproject.org, Mailchimp - http://www.mailchimp.com and Vanderbilt University - http://www.vanderbilt.edu.
National Geographic (http://www.nationalgeographic.com)
We like the strong header / masthead displayed on this site. We also like that the Primary Navigation does not incorporate buttons, but instead a solid bar contains the links.
Tapbots (http://tapbots.com)
We especially like the footer of this site. It’s still a four-category footer as described in our wireframes, but very creatively applied.
There are three pages to be designed, although they all fall within the same layout and vary very little, so we're running this as a two page contest:
1- Design the overall layout
2- Design a layout following the home page structure (see the attached PSD)
3- Design a 2x1x2 stacked layout structure (see the attached psd)
4- Design a 3x1x3 stacked layout structure (see the attached psd)
Please see the attached design requirements design, and the contest templates PSD. This should make it abundantly clear what we want.
PLEASE REVIEW THE ATTACHED DOCUMENTS! They make it very clear what we're going for. Also, use the attached PSD and the guides/rules inside of it.

We aren’t settled on any particular colors, so designers are free to explore that as they see fit. Our logo is used in any color, so it can be changed to whatever color fits your scheme. We do want something fairly colorful, not something academic or government. Our brand projects an accessible and fun tone. We want clean lines and plenty of white space. We don’t want flashy or trendy finishes or effects; for example, we don’t like carousels with the wet floor look, outer glows, etc. (i.e. http://arapahoelibraries.org/ald/). Subtle gradients and drop shadows are acceptable. Large type with nice leading is appreciated.
