TheGlamourousLife.com is an urban celebrity blog with over 200,000 monthly uniques, mostly in the US.
The site was originally a simple blog, but the traffic has wildly outstripped the look of the site. We need something much cleaner and more sophisticated to attract the right advertisers.
Layout, fonts, colors and background must all be changed and/or updated.
The site is in Wordpress and will remain so. I have a developer who will take your PSD design and translate it into Wordpress. ALL you're doing is the PSD layout and a JPEG version.
Here are the groundrules:
There are three IAB standard display units - 728x90, 300x250, and 160x600. All three must be in your design, although you can vary the placement.
We have two Adsense link units - 468x15 and 120x90. We can use different link units, although I do want to use two of them (not one or three). A list of Google link units is at https://www.google.com/adsense/stat…#linkunits
The COLOR of the link units can be whatever you want, but the FONT cannot be changed (it's a Google thing).
The "categories" list is frankly a bit of an outdated animal from the site's inception, and is now primarily for SEO purposes. It DOES need to remain, but it DOES NOT need to remain where it is, or even near the top. It's really not used by very many users for navigation.
The "most popular" list is also an SEO thing - it could be a list of links on the bottom or wherever.
The size and style of the slider is very hard to change, so don't bother. I think the font may be customizable, but that's all.
This is best left as-is. If it's not exactly 160x600, assume that it will be.
This is probably your biggest area to play with. On 29Secrets.com, we use a design that has a lot more stories on the homepage with smaller pictures, and you may want to go that way. You may be tempted to group the stories somehow into different areas, but our content strategy doesn't really map to that; it's mostly SEO-driven and ranges across a number of areas.
The background should be changed and is an easy way for you to make an impact.
Make sure to use the attached updated logo (also designed here on 99Designs), and you may want to extend its color scheme and fonts to your design.
Keep a search box, but the placement isn't really that key - it's used, but not all that often.
Overall, I'm looking to widen the content area and probably collapse one or both sidebar areas. Keep in mind that people tend to click on upper-left areas, so I'd like to have ad units in that area.
