sven.woltmann tuvo su nuevo diseño de página web a través de un concurso de diseño:
Modernize the Article Page for a Programmer Blog + Add Secondary Navigation
Hecha un vistazo al concurso de Diseño de página web de sven.woltmann
HappyCoders.eu is aimed at software developers. I publish articles about basic programming topics (algorithms and data structures) and about Java-specific topics (features in new Java versions, tutorials, advanced topics, etc.).
Sitio web existente
The existing style should be kept in principle, but can be modernized a bit. Existing readers should not think that this is a new site.

1. Article Pages: Here are two examples of articles: - https://www.happycoders.eu/java/random-number/ - https://www.happycoders.eu/algorithms/binary-search-java/ For article *series*, the template should be extended with navigation elements. I tried to design these myself, but I am not a designer (see attachment 'happycoders-new-nav-elements.png'). There need to be two new elements: - A navigation that allows the reader to jump to all parts of the series (outlined in red in the screenshot and labeled "New Navigation"). The series consists of several sections (in the screenshot: "Stack", "Queue", "Deque"). Each section consists of several articles. The sections in the navigation can be expanded and collapsed. - "Previous" and "Next" buttons at the end of the article containing also the title of the previous/next article (also outlined in red and labeled "New bottom navigation" in the screenshot). The task is to redesign the article template so that it can *optionally* contain the two navigation elements described above. Not all articles are part of a series. I.e., the template must look good with and without the navigation elements. You are welcome to change the positioning and design of the feature image at the top. The following is important: I am not a designer, and therefore, I cannot create a professional feature image for every new article. That's why I currently use stock images and put a semi-transparent black area, the title of the article, and my logo on top of it. This way, the feature images look more individual. However, I do that in an image editing program, which is a lot of work. If stock images are used in the new design, they should also be somehow modified to look individual. However, it would be better to do this generically in HTML* instead of in an image editor. For example, the H1 heading could be placed on top of the image. Currently, there are two times the title on the page: once the H1 heading and once the title in the feature image. This is redundant and could be improved. * You don't need to code HTML. I just want to explain that I would rather put the title on top of the image using HTML than using an image editing tool. That I lose the ability to customize the title layout in each feature image is something I would accept for the reduced workload. 2. Article Link Blocks (in various sizes): The article link blocks should be designed to match the updated article design. So if possible, also combine stock images with overlays so that they look individual, like in the article. There are large and small article link blocks: Big ones: on the homepage (see 'happycoders-article-link-block-big-home.png') and in the article list (see 'happycoders-article-link-block-big-blog.png'). Small ones: on category pages (see 'happycoders-article-link-block-small.png'). This is not about redesigning these pages completely, but only the framed article link blocks. As for the delivery: you can simply create a single page with article link blocks in the different sizes.
Lo que debe evitarse
Unedited stock images (see description above).
Deliverables: Layered Photoshop, Sketch file or Adobe XD file. No coding, no HTML, co CSS, no slicing. PNG and JPG exports would be nice :) Desktop/Mobile: 65% of my visitors come from the desktop, so that should be the primary version. But of course, the website should be readable for the other 35% as well. The mobile version may have limited functionality. It doesn't necessarily need the secondary navigation. If you look at the example page mentioned above (https://www.happycoders.eu/java/random-number/), you'll see that it's mainly a single column that just gets narrower on mobile. And for the article links, mobile just shows 1 column instead of 2 or 3 on desktop. Technical conditions: I use WordPress, Oxygen Builder, and can develop plugins myself, like for the new navigation. Therefore I have extremely high flexibility in terms of design and I am not limited by any WordPress themes.e
