Every business needs a multi skilled HR Department capable of designing and implementing strategic HR initiatives aligned to the long term goals of the business whilst also taking care of day-day HR needs. Some weeks, the day-day HR requirements of a business can be horrendous - it doesn't rain, it pours! Your HR department may need to be dealing with conflict in the workplace, recruitment, training and WH&S issues all at the same time whereas for other periods, everything is humming along nicely and the HR focus can be applied to the strategic side of the business. For Small to Medium Businesses, it is impossible to adequately resource these diverse HR needs internally.
The only two options for SME's to resource HR internally are:
1. an overcooked HR department - which costs the business a fortune and sees them twiddling their thumbs for a good amount of time or
2. An undercooked HR department which doesn't have the experience or depth to deal with the tough issues when they arise.

• They are not concerned about claims of harassment or bullying.
Every one of the bullet points above has a profound effect on the bottom line of the business.
