Here, we show a few of the most popular items that are listed on SkyLib. We think that showing a search field where you can search all the items on SkyLib is also needed.
We also want to communicate the different use-cases of SkyLib:
- For individuals, we offer a free, easy way to share items they no longer need (or rarely need). And the flip side is they can find things they need.
- For groups, we offer a way to create internal marketplaces or sharing communities
- For charities, we offer a way to get donations from members who are selling used items for the benefit of that charity
We also want to promote our Android app on the front page.
The action we want from a visitor is to log in or register, so the login & register action is quite essential. Users can log in or register via Facebook, Google or with an email address and a password.
ITEM PAGE (when logged in):
See for instance http://www.skylib.com/page/item/6311865953026048 (you can log in with the user firstname.lastname@example.org, password: 123456 to see what it looks like) for what we currently show for each listing. The top bar is shown when logged in. It offers the user a way to get home (click the logo on the left), search for something (with auto-complete), add a listing (by clicking the +), and via the drop-down on the top right, get to messages, my stuff, items like by me, and my profile.
The listing itself consists of a title, the category (which is hierarchical and can have several levels), an image, a description, and some optional fields depending on what type of item it is (books have authors, skis have length, movies have directors etc.). We also show where the item is located on a map, who is sharing it, a button to send a message if interested in the item, and similar items. There is also a button that can be pressed to "like" the item, and icons for sharing on social networks Facebook and Google+.
We want to keep the functionality, but need a design that looks more professional, and makes the item look more appealing than today.
