landing page: objective to immediately engage consumers with the items for sale.
Logo top left of page. (constant on all pages) and Prominent.
With tag line underneath:
"objects & accessories from interesting places..."
Im thinking of having the intro/about blurb underneath the tag line rather than have a sub heading in the navigation menu?! this will save designing an extra page and also introduce the concept immediately. my only concern is creating to much visual clutter, so this will be the design challenge.
Please see the attached 'intro/about' copy for Against the Grain.
key search term capability (top right) (constant on all pages)
Access to shopping cart. Visually showing how many items are in the cart.
Drop down navigation menu running in a horizontal column down left of landing page. (constant on all pages)
In the navigation menu please include the following sub headings:
Far away gallery ... (which also appears as the landing page)
Join us...(link to subscription newsletter)
Blog...(link to blog)
Contact (link to contact details)
(include links to facebook, youtube, twitter)
We need to somewhere include a blurb about the terms of trade and shipping. this could potentially be running down the bottom of the landing page but is up to the designer. Please see word doc attached for 'returns and shipping'
1) Landing page main component:
In a gallery format with square boxes displaying images of product.
Approx 15-20 boxes in the gallery. boxes must be big enough to clearly display the item. Am thinking no more than 3 or 4 boxes wide or across page, to help iphone and tablet searches. The main aim is to engage the consumers immediately, which is why i want the ' far away gallery' as the landing page.
2) Inside page:
Shoppers then click on product box, which enlarges image and allows space for product description.
Provide facility to select both size and colour.
'other products you might like' function would be great
The inside page will then direct users to shopping cart.
Include lots of negative space. Think, white, clean and chic...nothing to busy.
payment section (shopping cart): just make it easy and user friendly. Shopping cart icon should be visible on all pages.
Please note: There must be capacity to add additional sub headings in the navigation menu in the future. i.e. an additional product gallery with the same format as the current landing page.
