the overall design needs to inspire hope and inspiration. It needs to make Art with a Heart appear approachable. At first glance, the reader should immediate interpret that this is an organization centred around art and artists, and that through art people can improve their sense of well being. Art With a Heart serves all people, of all ages, with all abilities. And, its facilitators work in multiple disciplines including paint, modern batik, ink, textile art, mixed media art, music and dance. It would be great if the site can convey this. The site needs to be gender neutral and it needs to have an energy that resonates with readers.
We don't want a design that is box-like, or that appears to have harsh edges. It should have a sense of being free flowing. Some of the individuals we work with are in vulnerable situations or they have experienced trauma, so ensuring that shapes are not jagged or shard-like is important.
The home page should introduce the charity and what we do. We would like to have three boxes on the home page that will be able to be changed easily. Each box should have its own label --share, create, join. This page should encourage people to enter the site. Suggested menu items are: home, about us, programs and projects, art and artists, how can I help?, share with us? Designers can have flexibility with these menu labels. The design needs to include an easy way for people to donate. the organization uses Canadahelps.org.
The interior page design should allow people to easily navigate the site. It needs to be consistent with the design of the home page, but it should allow for significantly more text, without appearing busy. It would be great if the design has a way to show images that reflect hope and relationship building.
