Veterans and Others
Web developer with no time
Veterans looking for retirement living or assisted living. Retirement living means that they are healthy seniors wanting to retire in a community of other seniors. Assisted living is different in that that the senior needs assistance because he or she has some condition that requires long-term nursing care or assistance.
The website needs to be visually compelling. Take a look at http://www.mydelwebbcharleston.com/ for clues on layout.
The colors will be red, white, blue and gold. The gold will help bring warmth to the site. It needs to be warm, but not over-stimulating or cheesy with the red and blue.
The name of the organization is "Veterans and Others". There is no logo at this point.
In the header on the right, we imagine some kind of rotating flash piece. Client likes an image like on the right of the header on this page: http://www.vfw.org/index.cfm?fa=new…l&did=5159. But it doesn't need to be gray scale.
From the example site, where you see the lady with the smiling face, this will be some kind of black and white Vietnam battle scene possibly, with the USA flag transparently laid over it and faded off. This part will not be flash - just an image.
To the left of this compelling image would be two blocks (sections) stacked vertically. The first section will read: "Looking for retirement housing?" and there will be a button that reads: "Find out more".
The second section would read "Looking for assisted living?" and there will be a button that reads: "Find out more".
Below all this (just as on the example site), there will be brief descriptive text.
Below the descriptive text, there will be a section that showcases 6 retirement communities. Take a look at the three communities shown next to each other in the horizontal format on this page: http://www.arv.org.au/pages/default.asp?pid=3. You could do something like that.
