We will use Wordpress site as we have other requirements and restraints and sites that will work nicely with that - we especially like Elegant Themes (Divi).
The styles we like are exemplified in the example site links we have sent with comments. If you have an alternative, which will be equally flexible and easy for our team to work with, please make recommendations.
It is important that although we have information to give - and we will build on our narrative as we expand the content - it is always clear and clean when the site is opened. As we meet with people and give out our information, then when they check the website, we want it to be very clear what we do.
A clear message of care, support, compassion and mercy, must always be underlying the visual impact. How we prepare and hand out food and counsel and care for people, should be on the website when they open it.
A youthful, edge-y appeal is also very important - it cannot look like all the other charities - visually we wish to appeal to youth. Of course without alienating others.
Photos with youth and the impact of working with volunteers and volunteerism will be clear.
We require a colour palette that uses our existing colours -
Orange is our key colour - a very auspicious colour - called saffron in India - and the tones, with black, that work with that. These colours of course work with our logo/avatar - Jagannath :)
Each page would clearly identify Caring for Life and the Jagannath Icon/Logo. Happy for variation in the type/fonts and the look of our name to suit your design if you think it will work for strengthening this new website.
Some images we found have been attached as examples - they are only as a guide and would need to be designed to work together and for us, to complement our logo - the Jagannath icon.
We like the use of symbols for our five areas of support:
We like the use of silhouettes (as in OzHarvest) to indicate those areas with links through to landing pages for each - but we are not wedded to silhouettes if it can be done better.
We saw the symbols, if we go with them, rotating through pictures of what
we do, our activities in the five areas, to give life and colour, and humanity to what we do. Symbols alone can be cold and inhumane - so therefore, pic, symbol, pic, symbol, etc….
In addition, we have the areas where we want people to be involved and support Caring for Life. Those areas, too, could make use of appropriate symbols and images to work, running left to right as in the example Wordpress template.
