Components of the homepage:
Header - In general we like our header. We think it’s smart to keep it looking familiar but improved.
Main image – in general we like the main image slides, but there is lots of room to improve these layouts with shapes and fonts and action buttons.
Sidebar – we like a sidebar menu as it’s acts like a site map at a glance allowing visitors to quickly drill down to what they came looking for. Most buyers looking for a booth have an idea what they are looking for.
Body – for us the body is the primary location to leverage synergetic effect of keywords, keyword strings and H1 tags. We see this is the body’s primary role, but doing this while drawing the visitor in to go further is the job of the homepage body. If we could ask visitors to just browse designs and send us leads we would, but we need to introduce ourselves and provide a good reason for visitors to trust us enough to invest 30 minutes to browse designs, answer a few questions and adding a few comments.
Although this contest is for the home page, it’s important to have an idea on how the other pages will give the visitor a good user experience if they give us the time to tell them what were good at and why we are different.
Video – we hope to incorporate video in many places in the site to make it easier to help visitors know how to get more from our website, our designers, and more bang for their buck before during and after their show.
Random graphic elements – the graphic elements and 5 reasons and on the sidebar are elements I liked on other sites and am interested in something similar on our new site.
In many ways we are like an online shopping experience. We want our prospects to click to request a custom tailored quote instead of click to buy now.
