The Underdog Careerist is branded as a lifestyle blog meant to explore topics, industry news, and current discourse on youth employment across North America. In addition to topical discussion, the blog will introduce guerrilla and unconventional career tactics, explore the career journeys of professionals over multimedia format ("Career Conversations over Craft Beers" ongoing video series), and live diaries of ongoing unemployed job searches for profiled millennials.
The demographic will be aged 18-35, and the content will strike a tone reflected from my personality as a avid hip hop aficionado, former management consultant and HR professional, MBA alumnus, amateur skateboarder, and other bad descriptors. The writing is meant to strike a tone of authenticity that is inspired by my perspectives in working with VP level executives, young professionals, and clients, to my inner circle of friends that are DJs, grafitti artists, dancers, and poets; individuals that have very different perspectives on the world of work and life.
Kind of like a Vice meets Wall Street Journal career section for people who like Kendrick Lamar and don't mind a 420 from time to time.
This is a serious passion project that has been in my mind for years.
