Republican Party and Democratic Party (UNOFFICIAL)

Descripción de la organización y el público al que apunta
The 2012 presidential election is not far off, and it seems the United States' two major political parties could not be more opposed to one another. The last few years have been marked by stubbornness in Congress and mud-slinging between politicians. While grassroots movements like The Tea Party and #Occupy have made a lot of noise, the mainstream parties seem bent on keeping the "stale" in stalemate.
In the spirit of bipartisanship and progress (and fun), we at 99designs want to give the Democratic and Republican parties a re-design of sorts. We all saw how big a role graphic design played for President Obama in the last election. Now, we want YOU to put your skills to work for our PARTIES: design the new, (unofficial) logo for the Democratic or Republican party!

Two winners will be awarded for this contest ($500 each) - one for a Democratic Party logo design and one for a Republican Party logo. You may submit both if you like, as long as they are **separate entries.**
NOTE: Please make sure to indicate which party your logo design is for, if it is not immediately obvious. You may include the abbreviation "D" or "R" somewhere on your entry thumbnail.
*NOTE*: the appropriate spelling is "party."
Like any logo, it should convey the identity, values and personality of the party it represents -- or, better yet, the identity, values and personality to which you believe the party should ASPIRE. You may include text (The Democratic Party, The Republican Party, GOP, a slogan, etc.) or you may leave text out and create only an image. There is no requirement that you stick with any preexisting imagery (Democratic donkey, Republican elephant, stars and stripes, etc.), or that your design have an overly "stately" look. Creativity and thinking outside the box will most definitely be key for this contest, as will your ability to balance sincerity and humor, earnestness and wit.
Look to the past and present of these historic parties, and create a fresh logo design that they can carry into a more cooperative, forward-thinking future!
